5 Tips to Maximise Invisalign

If you’re considering Invisalign, or have already started treatment, you might be wondering how you can make the most of your aligners and ensure they work effectively. Here are 5 tips to help you get the best results from your Invisalign treatment.

1. Wear Invisalign for at least 22 hours each day

The first and most important tip is to make sure you’re wearing your aligners for at least 22 hours each day. This may seem like a lot, but it’s essential in order to make sure the aligners are doing their job properly. Of course, there will be times when you need to take them out – for eating, drinking or cleaning your teeth – but try to put them back in as soon as possible so that they can get back to work.

2. Keep Invisalign clean

It’s important to keep your aligners clean, both for hygiene reasons and to ensure they work effectively. When you take your aligners out, brush them with water and a soft toothbrush before putting them back in your mouth. You should also clean your teeth before putting the aligners back in, as this will help to remove any food particles that could become trapped under the aligners and cause cavities.

3. Be careful with what you eat

You need to be careful with what you eat while you’re wearing aligners because certain foods can damage or stain the aligners. Avoid hard or sticky foods like candy or gum which could break the aligners, and stay away from staining foods like coffee, tea or red wine. If you do eat something that isn’t Invisalign-friendly, make sure to brush your teeth straight afterwards so that any residue is removed from your teeth and aligners.

4. Don’t neglect your regular dental care

Just because you’re wearing Invisalign doesn’t mean you can neglect your regular dental care routine. You should still brush twice a day and floss once a day, using a soft toothbrush and interdental brushes (or floss picks) to clean around the aligners. It’s also important to see your dentist regularly for check-ups and professional cleanings while you’re undergoing Invisalign treatment.

5. Follow your dentist’s instructions

Finally, it’s important to follow all of your orthodontist’s instructions if you want to make the most of your Invisalign treatment. This includes attending all of your scheduled appointments so that progress can be monitored, and making sure you wear all of the recommended attachments (if applicable).
