What's a Veneer?
Veneers have the ability to completely transform your smile – they can whiten or align teeth, fix damaged or chipped teeth, close up gaps or cover worn down tooth enamel.
Veneers are very thin “wafers” of ceramic porcelain and are affixed directly to your tooth surface to change the colour, shape, size and position of your teeth.
Each veneer is hand crafted and custom designed from our expert labs. We can treat a single tooth to a full mouth – it just depends on your individual needs and what you want to achieve.
What Does the Process Involve?
It’s all about your smile. Before Dr Philip Chou (Dentist) places the veneers, he will prepare the teeth that will be fitted with the custom-created “shells.” The process typically involves taking off some of the tooth enamel’s outer layer and forming the tooth so the thin veneer can be affixed to the tooth surface without protrusion.
Impressions of your teeth will then be taken to prepare a mould. The veneers will be made from the moulds, which are sent to a lab. When you return for the next appointment, we will clean your teeth using a mild solution. Lastly, Dr Chou will apply the veneers to your teeth using an adhesive to bond them in place. It may take a few weeks to get accustomed to the feel and shape of your veneers. Some patients experience sensitivity to cold or heat during this period.
How long do they last?
Just as you brush and floss your teeth to maintain optimal oral health, scheduling checkups at our office twice a year will help to keep your veneers in top condition. It’s important that you don’t bite on any hard objects such as carrots or ice cubes. If you have a nail-biting habit now’s the time to stop as doing so can damage the veneers.
As long as you take care of them, you can expect your veneers to last for many years. If you think you might be a good candidate for veneers, contact us today to schedule a consultation!
Pricing that makes sense
Whether you need only one veneer on a single tooth or a complete mouth restoration, we price our veneers on a case by case basis which can be broken down into weekly, fortnightly or monthly payments on one of our interest-free payment plans.
